An anti-mold chip (also called a mold inhibitor chip or anti-fungal chip) is commonly used in packaging to prevent mold growth caused by moisture. Here's a clear, practical guide on how to use it correctly:
How to Use an Anti-Mold Chip
1. Choose the Right Chip Size
Select the chip based on:
Package volume (carton size)
Shipping duration
Humidity exposure
Example:
• Small box (≤0.05 m³): 1 small chip
• Medium carton (0.1–0.3 m³): 1–2 chips
• Large export carton: 2–4 chips
(Always follow the supplier's dosage guide.)
2. Place the Chip Properly
Put the anti-mold chip inside the package, not outside
Place it:
On top of the product
Or inside the inner polybag
Do NOT attach it directly to wet or greasy surfaces
The chip works by slowly releasing vapor-phase anti-fungal agents, so airflow inside the package is important.
3. Seal the Package Quickly
After placing the chip, seal the carton or bag immediately
Use plastic inner bags or moisture-barrier packaging if possible
Avoid leaving packages open in humid environments
4. Storage & Transportation Tips
Store cartons in a dry, ventilated area
Avoid long exposure to high humidity (>75% RH) before shipping
Combine with desiccants if shipping by sea or to tropical regions
Anti-mold chips prevent mold, while desiccants reduce moisture - using both gives better protection.
5. Safety & Handling
Do not open or break the chip
Keep away from food and children
Wash hands after handling
Dispose according to local waste regulations
Typical Applications
Shoes & leather goods
Textiles & garments
Handbags & backpacks
Furniture & wooden products
Electronics packaging
